Yep. That is a crab climbing glass, with nothing to hold onto for footing but a plastic hinge divider. I love watching these guys move around.ImageImageImageImage

We've got a crab that did exactly the same thing in our previous tank. I was too fascinated watching to get my camera, so good thinking on your part! It was yet more incentive for us to get a taller tank!

Hahaha. I try to make every space climbable, which is part of the surprise when they're able to use the one space I thought they would not.

So I heard some scraping sound and hoped it was one of them in the hamster wheel finally. I looked and looked. Then freaked out when I saw Derek crawling upside down on the mesh lid. This is the best picture I could get.Image

So, my crab has been doing this (I thought it would be the only one before I found this thread), but I wake up in the middle of the night to frantic "tapping" of my crabs legs/claws on the glass lid of my tank. Somehow (I have no idea how) he gets up there, and then can't get down, so I have to gently take the lid off and set him back on the substrate (I'm still new to crabs and not comfortable with handling them for fear I would get pinched and drop them....so I just try to gently "dump" him off into the sand). I don't know how he gets up there nor do I really care, but he can't get down so I keep getting woken up in the middle of the night to have to get him down which is a little annoying....any tips??

I leave my crabs be when they climb the ceiling. Usually they have a destination in mind, or just likes the view.

They can definately get down. They are also called tree climbers. Even if they fall it's no big deal. They love to climb.

I have 2 or 3 that like to climb. One day very shortly after I put them in the 20 G I had one climb about halfway along the top of the tank and then back again.
