My First Shot At A 2nd Level

I've been wanting to add some more climbing area in my tank for a while.

I added the rear climbing wall a few weeks ago. Fish net attached to command hooks with zip ties attaching some greenery. That seemed to be going over well since I have seen at least 2 different guys on it.

I figured I would use that basic idea and extend it to the front of the tank. Once I got everything in place I used zip ties around the bottom of the hooks so it doesn't fall when my crew starts exploring. The center is partially supported by the tree and also doubles as a way to climb up and down. I also cut out an area on the rear wall for access as well. I had issues in the past with command hooks holding. Hopefully they won't be an issue this time.

In the future I may add some greenery to the bottom of the netting to give it a forest canopy appearance. I'm happy with it, hopefully my guys will be too.

I got a fishing net to put in my 55 when I get around to it. I think I want to make a climbing wall on the front side of the tank but may make something more. I got an extra large size one. Still brainstorming.

The fish net is so cool, it turned out great! I can’t believe how your isopods ate that cuttlebone like that! Crazy!

I got a fishing net to put in my 55 when I get around to it. I think I want to make a climbing wall on the front side of the tank but may make something more. I got an extra large size one. Still brainstorming.

We go through lots of fish net. Last time we were at a Hobby Lobby we bought a big piece, must have been 3X5. My wife Xenocrab has two Flukers bamboo tension rods she uses in her tank. She puts them up high and zip tied fish netting to them. Her guys are always up and down them. I wanted to buy some for my tank but they don't expand enough for a 75 gallon. I think you would be ok with your 55 gallon though. She also laid some ceramic pots on their side and zip tied netting around them yo make them climbable.

I did have it on the substrate for a while. I'm not a fan of it there because the crabs get sand all over and knock it over when they climb on it. It's currently sitting on a piece of slate that is the base of the tree.

I saw a photo on Instagram where someone made a pouch for theirs out of craft mesh so they can hang it easier. I'm going to attempt making one of those either later today or on the weekend. I'll try and make a tutorial as well.

I just bought one and i have heating pads on all three sides im not sure where to set it because its not waterproof and if i set it on the substrate i feel that it will start reading wrong because i mist my tank every morning

Mine has been on the substrate for a few months. I would pull it out before you mist. There will be less of a chance of getting moisture into it that way.

I used the zoo meds little black dual gauges with probes. If it called for rain that day the humidity would peg at 99% all the time. The Acurite seems to be 1000 times more reliable.
