Just got my crabbies some new shells!

I got a HUGE pack from walmart and picked out ones roughly the size of my crabs! If anyone needs some 1/4 or 1/3 inch shells, let me know! I'll list them on my mercari, or just send them.

Hi there! Just wanted to let you know that purple pinchers prefer shells with round openings. So they will likely only use the green turbos if they are the right opening size.

Gotcha, the green ones are the right size for my smaller crab but the bigger ones are for phoebe and they are pretty round and the right size. They don't make green turbos big enough for phoebe.

What opening size do you think Phoebe will need? I've been able to find some jade turbos on Etsy and other shell shops with openings past 2 inches. They'll be a bit pricier, but I seriously doubt she'll actually wear any of the D-shaped ones in your post.

Hermits is right. Those "D" shaped openings on those whale's eye shells are preferred by Ecuadorian crabs not PPs.

Probably an 1"- 1 1/2"

Moe just switched! He looks so so happy in his green turbo shell! I'll look at maybe getting some larger turbo shells for Phoebe! The shell he picked was a little smaller than the others, but there are at least 6 other shells (turbo) shells in there for him to choose from and he chose that one, if it's too small will he switch out of it naturally or should I be worried??? It has a small chip at the top of it that I just noticed but it is extremely tiny and it's at the very top, again should this be adjusted???

He knows what best, and he will switch out if needed! I recommend getting "craft shells" from hobby lobby! They are $5 a bag and give you tons of shell options, it's about 10-12 shells per bag and they are all turbos!

Yes, that's what I was going to get but they were too small so I went to walmart and got a big pack with turbos and whale eyes !

I got plenty of 1 1/2" in the packs I got! I even got some 1 3/4" and a few 2" and a 2 1/2" and even one 3"! I also got some tiny ones, but they make cute decor! I got a few 1" and a few 6/8" as well!

Wow, yeah the ones at my hobby lobby were quite small and only had like one 1" shell. The pack from walmart was my best choice! I know whale eyes aren't particularly recommended for pps but i've seen many crabs and crab owners who use whale eyes or conch shells and they work fine, some crabs even prefer them! I'll look at getting some larger turbo shells tho

I'm actually a newer crabbers, I just spend hours a day doing research and reading people's experiences and advice because I'm a crab nerd!
