@Keg, thanks for the link the article was interesting to say the least.Most of the information in it was already published a couple of years ago by a news paper in New Jersy where Shell Shanty is located and the guy who owns the store has done a full feautre documentary on how he got started in the business years ago you can find this on Youtube its quite saddening.The owner actually makes the statement that he got into hermitcrab trafficking years ago when he retired from his former job because he knew the market for hermitcrabs as vacation souvineers was a solid one that could thousands of dollars a month in profit for him so he wouldn't have to worry about it retirement running out.He basically said that he got into this business to make money he doesn't care about the crabs where they go after leaving his store or if they end up dead this doesn't bother him it just means he'll make more money off of their replacements.I dislike the guy because he is perpetuating the myth that hermitcrabs are easy to care for disposable pets when we clearly know better.I can tell you why we don't see many of his customers coming to us to be a part of our community they can't keep their crabs alive long enough to get that interested in their care to care.

True and profound.When you look at a million people, you are getting a sample that is so broad, it is an average example of humanity. These are not bad people; They are a representative example of normal.So out of a million normal people, roughly 500 will come to this forum in a year.The rest...You know what? This is carnage. If 99.99% are dying of neglect, they shouldn't be sold. Or they should issue 1000 permits to sell a year. Then they would be valued.
