PetSmart is Recalling 33,000 aquarium heaters due to electrical shock to you. Here is a video reading the articleProduct Recall: TopFin Plastic Aquarium Heaters Here is the WTKR News Channel 3 Article on the Recall  I highly suggest IMMEDIATELY unhooking the product and returning to your local pet smart for full refund. Grab another brand of aquarium heater. It's said that the product is not appropriately grounded, risking the electrical shock.

Product Recall: TopFin Brand Aquarium Heaters

This is the second time that I've seen a mass recall of a improperly manufactured aquarium heater in the last year..The other brand was the Marineland Stealth Pro 100 watt and up variations they are made of a thermal plastic that tends to swell and explode while in the water operating under normal conditions.Apparently these units have an issue with leaking and when water gets into them they swell up and burst so a major manufacturer safety alert and subsequent recall were issued back in Jan of last year. The 40 through 60 watt versions are not involved with the recall. This is sad because the all plastic style heaters are supposed to be inherently safer due to the materials used and the design implemented in theory but this style of heater just isn't doing so well in real world applications.
