sick cat

Post by Laurie LeAnn » Wed Aug 13, 2014 4:39 pm

Well the 32 pound cat is having serious issues. Has serious bladder infection that won't clear up. He has been on several antibiotics as soon as he off he is good for a week or two then I can he he getting sick again he will per on my carpet in random spots. I have steam cleaned it several times. When he is feeling better he goes to his box, when he hurts he goes on my carpet, a towel, a cat bed, etc.. I gave d pills this time I crushed and put in his can food then he had me start him on hill s.d. dissolution food? Then he quit eating can food and there went they meds, 3 days down the drain! Called the vet got him oral and fighting him to shoot it down his throat. Do you know how hard it is to give a 32 pound cat meds! It's like riding a bull! I can only give it to him til the 20th of this month then he has to be off of meds for 8 days then he will have 2 inch needle poked in his tummy to his bladder to get a clean urine sample to see what is going on. I got to see what his bladder looked like, he had his sonogram at the vet office that day.the said see all this? It's inflamed. Sebastian wasn't even bas grouchy as normal.. So we New he was sick..So far over the last 3 months I have blown at least 300$ on him. The 28th will tell what is wrong. If it comes to a chronic thing where I have to constantly fight to keep him on meds cause he will be in pain and confine him to the kitchen..Then maybe I will say the goodbyes I don't KNOW. I bawled all the way to vets last week cause I thought it was it...

How sad. But it might be better in the long run to put him out of his misery.

We shall see the 28th what the test say, it can be as simple as changing his food. I noticed that he can tolerate iams can food for meds but will snub his nose at friskies. He is on that dissolution science diet prescription food. His last dose of meds is this wed then has to wait a week before the test, no meds in his system. I hope he can be pain FREE until then.

I'd see what the tests say and if it's something fixable the vet should have done the tests sooner and I'd wonder if you need a new vet. You owe it to your pet to try everything you can to make him better before you take his life away. It was be surgery that you can't do is the only wY to fix it fine then put him down but you gotta keep trying. Pets are family and we owe it to them to do everything we can before we make that kind of decision on their behalf. Best of luck or as we say in show biz break a leg! ( I'm in theatre a lot)
