Calcium?/lime? scale buildup

Post by Kryorke » Sat Dec 28, 2013 2:05 pm

I got a used tank yesterday that had a whitish, chalky looking ring around the inside. I tried a scrub brush and hot water without much luck. In my Google searchings, all the posts I read said chemical cleaner or vinegar. I didn't wNt to use either one. I did end up finding a post that said to try straight lemon juice, and since I g ive my guys lemons, I felt comfortable trying it. And it worked!! It came off completely. Just an FYI for everyone.

Great to know! I always want to avoid bleach and ammonia around the tank, good to know of alternatives.
