Recommendations for climbing stuff for crabs.

Post by Horsejazz34 » Fri Aug 22, 2014 8:39 am

My crabs have fallen off of their old cage that's been being used as their climbing thing and it takes up two much room. Due to the fact that my crabs are new and I'm low on funds I can't do anything for about a month. However I'm planning on asking for crab stuff for my birthday and getting them some more stuff around then. Any good suggestions or store brought stuff you recommend? Also what sticks can I use from my back yard and where do I put my crabs while I'm cleaning and what's the least messing way to do it? Thanks for all your help.

you can use cholla wood or a plant, or driftwood, and choya wood. You can make them sandcastles also. When you clean their cage you can let them walk around, but keep an eye on them and spritz the air around them to keep the humidity or put them in that container with dirt and spritz for humidity.
experience comes from this: Harvey (tarantula), flanders (cat), 2 pp hermit crabs, (marshawn pinch, and richard shermit), smallstress house hamster(hamster), baron purplemoon (fish).

crabitat ideas 1 #2 fake plants Here are some posts that may help. Baskets, shower caddies, cake tiers, nets, fake plants ect. all can be used. I only suggest using outside limbs or anything for that matter if you know 100% sure they have not been exposed to any kind of chemical treatment if you live in the city most likely they have been exposed. I live in the country on 50 acres with my family so I know what gets put on it and go towards the middle to make sure if the neighbors did something to there's its not accidentally on mine. Also freeze to get rid of bugs, eggs, mold ect...

Yes if you have a hobby lobby sound they sell it there to. If you have maple trees and fallen branches You can soak some of these in in their salt water for a long time, I would do it for at least a good start then bake it on low on a cookie sheet on bout 170 - 200 til dry. I have learned sometimes putting things in a freezer just puts bugs in a dormant stage then you put it in the tank and then you have a bug infestation.
