I'm soooo sad to say that Coco Puff has passed on :'( I can't imagine the end was too pleasant, but while he was healthy he lived a wonderful life
Purchased on 4/6/07, he came up from a successful molt on 4/29. Other than his 10 day molt, and a few practice digs, he was out all the time. Erm, well, he was in the coco hut, but with his white babylonian shell, it's like he was out all the time *chuckle* He was a micro crab and when he changed to a 1/4 inch babylonian shell, it was VERY apparent how small he was. He had plenty of growing room in that shell!On 5/15, it became apparent he wasn't doing too well. He changed into a red nerite shell that was even smaller than his original shell! He could not pull all the way inside, and just tucked his eyes between his legs to hide! He had originally tried this shell on before chosing the babylonian, so KNEW it was way too small. But he changed to it, and never changed out. A few days later, he started spending a lot of time hanging into the salt water dish. I put him into his own gladware ISO unit on 5/21, and he immediately dive bombed into the small dish of salt water I had for him.Because of him, I now know I need to find new water dishes
Even though I have them lined with pebbles, I think the dishes may be too steep for the smaller crabs.After spending most of the day in his water dish, he eventually crawled out and sat at the side of the container. I put him in a little depression I made for him, and put a little cup hut over him.He never moved again :'( I'm officially calling death at 5/28. Memorial Day. I checked on him that day, and he looked a little transparent, I was hoping he was molting. But I looked at him today and found him the same way.Daddy and I will miss you little Coco Puff and we look forward to seeing you at the Rainbow Bridge! Coco Puff eating flowers
