As you already know, crabs need special measures to keep your older crabs from abusing the new-comer! 1. wash your crabs in de-chlorinated lukewarm water.2. make sure they aren't going to molt.3. Add him to his new home! Monitor crabs behavior.

This list seems a bit short so I'll add some helpful tips to kind of fill it out.First newly purchased hermitcrabs should be isolated for four weeks this is to allow them the chance to molt if need be, de-stress, change shells and tank up on water and nutrients without having to compete for these resources right off the bat and having to do a meet and greet with its new tank mates which adds a ton of stress to an already stressed crab.During the iso period you can continue to change out food and water but you must not disturb the crab/s in any manner, it would also be helpful to keep the lighting dim during this time and to keep the humidity and temperature stable at around 80/80 for both.The four week iso period is also there to protect your established group from any illness or diseases the new crab might be bringing with it.... Second, if your newly purchased hermitcrab/s came from a mite infested enclosure you need to bathe the crab/s upon brining them home by filling a shallow bowl with dechlorinated luke warm water, make sure to turn the crab upside down so that the water rushes into the shell washing out any mites and debris and then drain the water out of the bowl while holding the crab to the bottom, once the bowl is empty you can remove the crab.You never want to take the crab out of the bowl while the water is still in it because the mites floating on the surface will just re-attach to the crab as you bring it up past them...You can repeat this process up to three times to completely get rid of any mites on the crab/s.It would be best to avoid mite infested store enclosures but if you have to purchase from such an enclosure you can deal with the mites quickly and effectively by following the above mentioned steps.

i am wondering if it would be okay if one of my friends brought their crabs over for a crab/human sleepover this sunday night. my crabs are twice his crab's size, so i know mine could probably crush his, but i won't them to be friends, if they visit eachother a lot for vacations, molting, and sleepover even if they don't live together, but visit for a while at times, is that okay? i mean my crabs would be fine, because they are bigger, but i love all crabs now, and wouldn't want to see any crab get hurt.
