How sensitive are crabs to noise?
Specifically, a piano. I'm moving soon, and already am planning out my room. The biggest trick is that one wall has 2 vents and 4 of my crabs are straws, so i can't put them on that wall. Moving counter clockwise, it's a wall up against the exterior. Moving to the next wall is where the crabs may go, but they would be next to said piano. The last wall is a partial wall, so it's just enough room for the bed and nightstand. Would it be clearer if i made a mock-up of the layout?
Circling back to the beginning: usually when i practice it's around 2 hours tops, if that makes a difference in how it affects the crabs, and they would be at the lower end, unless there higher end would be better

I honestly think they wont mind. Many keep them in living rooms where thry watch tv, and often report that their crabs are fine to the noise. As long as you play pieces they prefer (classical is the way to go
) then they wont mind

I personally think it might take some time for them to get used to. My crabs don't tend to mind some noise, but they don't hang around if it gets too loud for them!
I wish I could play the piano! I admire your ability to play!

aussieJJDude, I demand to see references to the studies that proved that LHCs prefer classical. Mine seem more partial to fusion jazz.aussieJJDude wrote:I honestly think they wont mind. In the wild they would be accustomed to some level of noise, as if the OP has set times when she played it would be interesting to know how the crabs respond at that time.

*I'm a dude, but no worries since it's not in the sidebar
When i play on weekdays it would be somewhere between 5pm and 10pm. Weekends are unpredictable other than after 12 usually. I plan to have the Hermit Crab Ballet organized and performance ready by November. They shall be performing a daring interpretation of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring

I really don't think it bugs them to have music! I've never had any problems and am always playing music.
