Emergencies?
Emergencies?
I was just wondering what ya’ll do with your crabbies in emergency situations? We are nearing tornado season in East Tennessee, and I haven’t the slightest idea what I would do if we had to evacuate or something!!

Re: Emergencies?
Moist moss and plastic containers allow for easy and safe transport of hermits, and they will be okay in it for several days without food or water. Molters can be carefully dug up and individually isolated in something like a sour cream container with moist moss if it came to it.
I live in an area where the only serious threat of evacuation would be from a derailed train or crashed semi carrying chemicals. Power loss in winter has been a danger for the last decade, although we are finally getting a generator to mitigate that threat. It's something I have tried to think about since we have so many animals!

Re: Emergencies?
I haven’t had any environmental emergencies since last year, and we had the hurricane coming near us, but fortunately we only got the heavy rain and wind. I hope something won’t happen because I mentioned it!
If there’s a disaster like this one, only take the crabs, unless you have a smaller tank that can be easily carried and transported. Otherwise, you’ll have to leave the crabitat behind in a freak panic.
Let’s think of good positive things for a while!

The odds of anything happening where you live due to a hurricane are very slim, considering how far inland our area is.Stella wrote:I haven’t had any environmental emergencies since last year, and we had the hurricane coming near us, but fortunately we only got the heavy rain and wind. Re: Emergencies?
Just have a plastic tote and some spare moss or eco earth put away in the event you would have to leave your home with them in an emergency.Giner13 wrote:I was just wondering what ya’ll do with your crabbies in emergency situations? If the temps outside are at least 70 then you don't need to worry about heat.

Re: Emergencies?
I had 2 power-outs in winter which the crabitat had a temperature of 50, which was insanely scary. The first time they all dug down and survived, my E was slowing down, and the second time they all stayed up except for the E who was molting.Stella wrote:I haven’t had any environmental emergencies since last year, and we had the hurricane coming near us, but fortunately we only got the heavy rain and wind. Goodbye my little E. See you soon.
Bye Fred. You lasted almost 4 years with me. Hope you're with my E now! See you soon Reeba as well. I can't believe I lost you only after a month.
