Too easy?
Should we make stuff in the tank as easy as possible for them or leave some things that are difficult so they have a challenge? I've noticed that since my moss pit, the walmart shower caddy, doesn't have holes on the sides, they have a hard time climbing out. Should I put craft mesh on the inside?

Don't leave places where they could get trapped or have a super difficult time getting back out. Crabs panic, and they can inadvertently harm tankmates.

So I should attach craft mesh to the inside and outside of the moss pit? It's incredible that they can get to the top of the moss. It's just then they don't have a way to get down unless they find the exact spot the ladder is.

I think that is okay. I thought they were having trouble getting out of the pit itself! So long as they can reach the top, they'll drop if they want to do. I wouldn't worry too much about them using the ladder.

Well it looks like they sort of have trouble getting to the top. It definately takes a lot of effort. But even if there was craft mesh inside they don't always go to the side and try to climb out. They just slowly climb through the moss. It tires me put watching them.

Some craft mesh would work on the inside of the pit. I usually fill my moss pit all the way to the top with moss. They really like to bury and hide in that.
We started to drill holes across the top of the of the pit so we can add fake plants to the outside. You could do the same and attach the mesh across the top and use the lower holes to secure it on the bottom too.

Yeah, my moss pits are filled to the top. Next time I work on the tank I'll add mesh craft the the pit. I will probably get a new caddy since the suction cups are really getting old.Motörcrab wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 11:51 amSome craft mesh would work on the inside of the pit.
