This one time probably won't hurt, but you'll def wanna switch up to non salted/non buttered next time.

Butter and salt are both safe for crabs to eat!

Really? Even iodized salt? I know sea salt is ok.
Nice! Thanks Curly. ImageImage

Iodized salt should never be used for drinking or bathing water, but all crustaceans need some iodine in their diet in order to molt. Iodized salt, when used in cooking, is in low enough amounts to be safe.

Ah ok! I must have been thinking about the drinking water. Thanks!

I heard noises about an hour after I put popcorn in their dish. I’m so excited!

Haha! Sounds like a good Taco Tuesday meal! My guys also come out for dead crunchy oak leaves. I usually split one in half, one side for each of my tanks, and by morning it's gone!

Ok. So now I hear the crabs every morning before work. From about 6:45-7:30 when I leave. I really hear them. I was cleaning up and washing trays and I saw pincers poking out of the sand (alive). I see holes in the sand where they go and come out. However, one went into the water dish (freshwater) and has been there since yesterday morning. What is it doing and should I be concerned? He’s just sitting there.

Is he still there? Is he totally submerged? Or just partially?

Less than partially. It’s a very shallow dish. He’s still there. He was the one eating everything.

So the shell is empty. I don’t remember if there was a crab in it or not. The shell is taking up the whole water dish. The crab that was always making noises was sitting on it or climbing over it. What’s going on?
