Okay this is very offensive if you made the mistake of buying from a puppy mill that dose not mean you can put a bad name on all breeders. There is a whole other world out there of responsible breeders who could possibly turn down any of you seeing if it is not the right home for their dogsI love most German Dogs but if your looking for good dogs go to breed rescues those would be your best betCHIHUAHUAS ARE NOT FASHION ACCESSORIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kjirsten, reread what I said. "Oftentimes" does NOT mean always. There ARE good breeders out there, but unfortunately they are getting to be fewer in number and harder to find. And I have seen people who own puppy mills JUST for cash who dress themselves up very nicely, making it hard to weed them out from the reputable, caring breeders. My father raised champion German Shepherds for decades, including many that became search and rescue or police K-9 units. My family has been instrumental in setting up Humane Society branches where they were sorely needed. I'm not disparaging all breeders; but I AM cautioning anyone who goes to one to check them out very thoroughly. A decent, reputable breeder will welcome most questions. Not only do they have nothing to hide, but it shows that the person buying the puppy is genuinely looking for an animal that they will share their lives with and take good care of.A final note: I've never bought a dog, unless you consider adopting Rosie from the Humane Society "buying". Almost all of my animals have been "rejects" from abusive homes, or simply strays that no one was willing to care for.

My sister just got a full breed standard collie puppy from a rescue...he was thrown over a fence and found in the rescue lady's yard... She runs a lab rescue out of her home...i guess someone knew of her and at least had the decency to leave him at an appropriate home...
