Why a lid/cover is so important!!

Post by ciaraalston » Wed Jul 18, 2018 10:52 pm

The last two nights I have found Rajah getting out of the tank...
Sunday night-

Monday Night-

So I laid cardboard on top of the tank, laid books and heavy things on top to weigh it down.
Tonight this is what i find...

If you just have seran wrap, make sure it's sealed all the way around on edges! The vent holes should be closer to the center, so they can't reach them. Because before Rajah went down for his first molt, he NEVER tried climbing out. He stayed in his cocohut and never came near when I was around. That was almost a year. Now that he's up from his molt, he doesn't care! He climbs and gets into everything and doesn't run when im around! It's almost a completely different crab!! Image

Lol yes, he's hard headed! It amazes me because for the first year I never saw him. Now he's all over the place!

I just can't get over how your crab is a mirror image of my own escape artist right down to the same shell.

If I can figure out how to insert a pic, I'll post one.

My big guy somehow managed to still lift the lid enough to get out with a whole 20lbs of Instant Ocean on top. Lol I ended up ducktaping all the edges.

My goodness!!!! I really hope Rajah doesn't learn that skill! I have books, instant ocean, rocks, and candles on top now. Haha
