Chirping Question

Post by Jkurtz » Thu Apr 02, 2020 3:09 am

Howdy,

I have three PPs and a 20+ gallon (pretty sure it’s mid 20s) tank. Our biggest, Bob, can get downright noisy at night. We’ve had them for about a year and a half. I’ve seen some information citing distress but was curious if he could just be a chatter box? Have any of your crabs just been noisy? When we first had them we’d check on them all the time because of the noise, thinking something was wrong. After not finding any obvious causes we only check if it’s louder than usual. The other 2 tend to be almost always silent. It should be noted that Bob is EXTREMELY active. He is known to wreck the tank as he messes with everything. He’s plenty comfortable with us around and rarely hides when we reach in to clean or change food. Any information would be appreciated. Cheers!

Chirping can be a sign of stress but not necessarily. Some crabs just like to talk.
