Worried about Pine

Post by Pumpkincrab » Sun Jan 24, 2021 10:31 pm

The last few days I've been worried about Pine.
She's a small crab that molted close to 3 or so months ago and she's been fine, except for the last few days.
She's been sitting in one area, not moving much, maybe just a few inches every few days. Part of me suspects she's close to molting but the other part thinks she's in danger.
I have 80/80 heat and humidity, 8 inches of substrate and a LOT of stuff to climb and do. I know she's not getting bullied by the other crabs because I believe everybody else is down right now  :crabblush: which is also kind of sad because I miss them... :(
OK Getting off topic. Should I be worried or is she just close to molting?
Thank you!

I for the most part am gonna leave this question up to more experienced crabbers. Though I am wondering about your crabs diet? Could Pine not be getting enough nutrients? Your crab could be fine too as I had a crab do that recently, they were in back of my climable background and they just sat their (it is now like a favorite crab spot).

It sounds like your conditions are good. Do you have salt water available too? I can't remember if it was you or someone else that had to buy some. My mind gets fuzzy sometimes lol. If all the conditions are met, it sounds like she may just be getting ready to molt again.

I agree with crabby lover. It sounds like you have the food necessary. Maybe just getting ready for a molt. Is she up high? Like just in a favorite spot. Like I said my crabs if in a favorite spot can stay their for awhile and it scared me at first but its not the weirdest and scariest thing they have done. It sounds like your doing everything right so I would not be too worried. Maybe offer extra protein? I wish I could give you more advice :(

i noticed all my crabs are different
some live at the food bowl and then there’s some that i notice get lethargic before their molts
so maybe just keep a watch on her and you’ll probably see her go down for a molt soon
have you noticed her like this before her previous molt?

Maybe she’s missing all of her crabby friends...
