Not to sure , one would think after neutralizing it with sodium bicarbonate that it would be fine then after you boil them in double strength salt water you would be safe? I know we use sodium bicarbonate at work to neutralize spills that are high in acid to control it and be able to handle it safel...

The pads are pre-set to work at 95 degrees so they don't burn out. Even though you're only seeing a 3 degree increase that may be because the room is already warm. My humidity often goes up to 85, sometimes higher, and my straws don't seem to mind at all. I think that if your tank is 80/80 most of the time, you should be fine. Did you look at the map where Straws are base out of? its hotter at night getting temps up to 98 at 12 a.m in Fiji . with temps around 88 during the day

As far as I can remember Mopani ,grape,ghost wood,driftwoods are ok and will not harm the crabbies. They like to pick at every thing don't they?
