Re: Leaving for a Week and a Half

They will be fine if you leave them with plenty of dry goods to munch on. For example: Leaves, snake skin, dehydrated bugs, Eggshells, oyster shell, Seeds (quinoa, birdseed, chia, millet, sesame), dehydrated fruits. Make sure their water is fresh before you go. :)

Re: above ground molting

It sounds like you are doing a great job!! Are you providing him with powdered calcium to eat? Make sure you do lots of protein, and also try extra virgin coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil (the fat is necessary for molting). :) I've never been in this situation before, but perhaps try contacting...

Re: Adopted 2 Crabbies that weren't in best condition; not moving or eating much!

Hello :) Congratulations on your adoptions! :) One thing I would like to say is I'm not sure how small your smallest crab was, but smaller crabs do tend to molt more frequently. She/He could be coming up and then going right back down without you noticing. :) Stay positive! :) Provide lots of calciu...

@Xenocrab - spider plants are safe too :) Super easy! Any air plant I have tried the isopods have killed. :/ Coral is great - isopods and hermies love it :)

Re: Heat lamp on top of plexiglass?

Perhaps you could cut a hole in the area where the lamp would sit, and then put a piece of screen there. Many people make do it yourself lids. :)

Re: Adding Isopods to Main Tank

I thought that I might as well post my input on this question as well. I added some wild isopods to my tank that I collected around my yard (they were kept separate for about a month) that I wanted to put into my crabitat. Now I have over a thousand crawling all over the place, they wedge themselve...

Re: Butterfly hatched!

To attract butterflies you need both nectar and host plants. Nectar for food. Host for Caterpillars :) In all of my years ~ I’ve never seen butterflies like oranges, watermelon or sugar water unless they are in captivity. Butterflies prefer flowers. Don’t waste your money on butterfly feeders. Butte...

Re: Butterfly hatched!

Beautiful! I'm sure you know you shouldn't handle these butterflies other than to release...right? Their wings aren't as hardy as Monarchs. Every time you are moving them to different places to take pictures you are removing scales from their wings. (I've raised butterflies for almost 15 years now) ...

Re: I accidentally brought a foreign creature home!

I used to play with those when I was a kid. It is so sad to see how much the environment has changed. When I was a kid (many, many moons ago, they were EVERYWHERE on the beach. I can't tell you the last time I saw one. :(

Re: For Members Who Wish To Adopt:

Hello Everyone! Do you possibly have room for a crab or two? Our Local Adopters by State lists have grown small due to the fact that I have been keeping them updated. Please consider putting yourself on the list if you have room. Thank you!! :) The following information is the basic info that would ...
