Re: My Straw (Perlatus) baby thread. -Update: zoea are a go
I now present the straw megalopa!! Congrats!!! And my transition tank is not ready!!! Don't panic! It will need some days, till it's interested in shells and some more days till it realises, there is more than water. ;) It came too soon, only 16 days in!! Soon? Do you known how fast they sho...

If Curlz really thinks, I know something about larvae,... ;) So my 'counsel' for all of you, who are trying to build a kreisel: There are many different was, to realise this. Like Curlz I did one (now two ;) ) with an acrylic glass cylinder. I also used some cookie boxes to build a kreisel-tank. Thi...

Re: How smart are crabs?
I don't know, if you can call it smart, but hermits seem to have a good sense for their surrounding. When I opened the connection between my two crabitats, nearly all of my PP realised the new hole in less than a day! I never thought, they wound realise it so soon. After the first PPs went back and ...

Re: Pictures of my crabitats and my land hermit crabs
Curlz is a few days off. To you really think it's possible to get DNA-tests of so tiny crabs? Curlz can barely hold their shells between her fingers, so small they are! I guess if this test is possible, you have to wait until the mite are much bigger. Hmm, or if she finds a dead one,.... Which none ...

Re: Woohooo!! Two females with eggs!! Update P.6! BABIES!!
And another question: If you walk into a store, and they have hermies, they have all different kinds? We only have either C. Clypeatus, C. Compressus (hard to find depending where you live), and C. Perlatus (pretty hard to find, you usually have to order them). Most animal-stores have only one spec...

Re: Having E's/With PP's?
I don't have Es, but a female friend of mine has some, together with PPs and some other species. It's hard to get Es in Germany.^^ She says her Es like sand, sun and salt water. But her crabitat is bigger than yours...? Just try and keep a wary eye on them.
