Re: How do i keep everything warm in the tank
I'd seal the tank up as best you can with just a small opening for airflow, and do a heavy misting to help temporarily. Do you have a moss pit? That can help some.

Nets are good, shower caddies or plastic containers from dollar stores work great too. Some people use coated wire shelves (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0000TQGTA/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1454607846&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=white+kitchen+corner+shelf&dpPl=1&dpID=41sV%2BKfH%2BKL&ref=plSrch) as well ...

Wish me luck...
My smaller tank, the 40B, is way overdue to have more sand added and have the decor/shells cleaned. I've been procrastinating since I'm pregnant and sick and have no energy, BUT I'm going for it as soon as my husband gets home and can lift the bag of sand for me, haha. Probably won't do a lot of rea...

Re: Cholla wood molding?
It definitely won't hurt anything to try. You can also spray the mold with saltwater to treat it if/when it pops up.

Re: going to a bigger tank
Check eBay, I've seen pieces of cholla all different sizes for sale there.
Branches from outside are okay to put in as long as they haven't been sprayed with pesticides or anything and are on the safe list.

Re: How do i keep everything warm in the tank
If your apartment temp is 79 your tank should be well above 60, so that's weird. Are you sure your thermometer is reading correctly? Do you have another one you could try out just to check?

Looks good! I love dollar stores. I have the exact same containers for my shell shops.

Make sure the UTH can be safely covered with Styrofoam before you go that route. As far as I know none of the pet store ones can be.

Re: Can't keep my crabitat warm OR moist?!
What's your humidity and temperature reading? If your only heat source is the heat pad, it probably just isn't enough for the 20 gallon. And just to check, you have it on the side of the tank and not actually under the tank, right? I think you need another heat pad - when you're getting one from the...

Re: How long are crabs safe out of habitat?
I have a few more outgoing crabs that I bring out to show people, but even then they aren't out more than a couple minutes. I handle them for quick pictures and/or to measure them, and to move them if they're in my way during a tank rearrange. I've never really seen the point of handling them extens...

I'm sorry Cheeseburger isn't doing well It's so hard to watch them go downhill - my rats are over 2 years old now and starting to really show their age. It's rough.

Re: Crab is on the roof of my crabitat upside down!
Mine like to gracefully leap from the lid into the water dishes.
When I first started crabbing, I would always pry them off the lid because I would worry. Now my theory is if they got themselves up there, they can get themselves down one way or another.

Aww, what a sweet looking girl. I love older kitties/pets in general. It sounds like she had a rough start and is doing pretty well, all things considered!

Fingers crossed the steroids help, and I hope your animals stay healthy for a long while! I think you deserve a break.
