Re: What's on today's menu & recipe sharing
OK the pinkie mouse is disgusting. But...if someone creative figured how to freeze dry them and grind into powder I'm game! Imagine; "tonight we are serving carrots with a dusting of mouse". I recently got the Repashy Beach Buffet that you can make into a gel. This is going first, last night I actua...

Re: Waiting for death smell? Hope not?
I cannot be 100% sure honestly; I was keeping up and then with all the shell shopping I sort of got confused as to who was who. A couple came from pretty poor conditions at a Petsmart so that could well be him. I shudder to think of the conditions he was in before I got him so I guess I gave him som...

Re: Waiting for death smell? Hope not?
Thanks you guys are spot-on and I appreciate you taking the time to answer. As it was, he would have been "freshly dead"; when I got home and smelled-hello death smell which is genuinely unforgettable and not in a nice way. I have now learned that the abdomen is the key so I will be more knowledgeab...

Re: Loveable Exotics (coming soon)
There is SUCH a need for this type of service. Some of us would gladly pay more for molted crabs. I think you have to make that decision early on; will you be a high volume, low cost supplier or more of a high end supplier. Perhaps you could molt a percentage of the crabs and offer the others after ...

It's actually not wood but rather the fibrous support of a cactus so should be fine!

Re: How much longer should I wait?
I am so sorry for your loss but this brings up a strange question. If a crab passes away under the sand, is there any way to know? Or does the death small get covered up by being under several inches of sand? In other words if a molter "never" comes up should anything be done, or do you assume it is...

Waiting for death smell? Hope not?
I am traumatized; this morning one of the small e's was in a weird position. I took him out and he was part way out of the shell, completely limp (but still hard with exo on) and any sane person would assume he was dead. So; I held him up right against my nose and there is no smell whatsoever, and I...

Re: Finished my food storage!
I wonder if all us crab people are migraineurs? Sorry I can relate. I got some of the frozen fish foods; one was krill based with spirulina, etc. Dear God, the smell! Needless to say, they liked it. Expensive, though. I also just got the Repassy (hermit Crab) Beach Buffet that you make into a gel; t...

Re: Food storage
I have the VERY best solution called "really useful boxes) at Staples. I just bought it last night, washed it, and spent two hours this morning filling and labelling it! (also a little obsessive) It is the best thing ever, sits vertically in the fridge so it doesn't take up much space. Only problem ...

Re: Tank Build 60g Exo Terra The Visual
Really that cork tube is an inspiration. Mine LOVE the cork hide they have, even love sitting on top as well as inside so I think you have a winner. And the fact that everything is so natural means you have a very aesthetically pleasing tank. Another nice thing about the cork is because it has littl...

Re: Potential Future Owner
These things are addictive and awesome. But..you need patience or be able to just enjoy the look of a tank, because since they are nocturnal especially at first, you may not see them as often as you would like. Then they go to molt and it is excruciating waiting for them to come back up. Really cool...

Sprouts can be a very nutritious food source! I am thinking they will relish them so don't get too attached to how they look

Re: Pacing Behavior in strawberry-Normal?
Besides the two straws (one down) there are 3 PP's and 8 small e's although never more than 4 are up at a time. The e's are very shy for e's and only one of them seems to really run around, at least that I can see.
