Re: Live plants
For consideration, there was a fern species that gave me pause, as it was listed in a piece of lit concerning chemical defenses of plants against insects. This fern, the common polypody ( Polypodium vulgare ), also called common fern (but, i mean, how many plants are called 'common fern'? A LOT wou...

Some plants that I know are safe off of the top of my head are Wandering Jew, Spider Plants, Aloe... Re: Live plants
I'm in the process of growing rooted cuttings from wild plants or plants my mother has had for a long time. It's slow going - especially without rooting hormone & fertilizers designed especially to promote rapid growth. It'll be pretty funny if the crabs trash them in under a week - but that's why ...

Re: ZooMed Mushroom Shelf Safe?
I once considered letting my crabs play with a stress ball, but when I saw how much damage they did to a pencil eraser (I was curious so I put it up to their pincher) I decided that if I wanted them to have a toy, it should be hard enough so that they won't turn it into confetti. Re: Which live plants are best?
JustJay was working with prickly pear & air plants back around December, I think. Here is a link to her thread, if you're interested. http://hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=112820&p=1020984&hilit=Living+plant#p1020984 If you look through the archives there are a good number of ...

Re: Looking for stunning PP & Exotics pics we could use for
What type of camera is everyone using? These pictures are so much better than mine! I had to edit each one to minimize blurriness from motion. Then, I tweaked the exposure and color saturation for LaBelle's and Antoinette's mug shots because some part of their body was blending in a little too much!...

Re: Exotic species care
Exotics was used here just so we wouldn't have to list every species every time since it applied to them all. Faster than having to type "everything that isnt a PP". Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk I know. I'm just being too philosophical for my own good. One of the results from taking that Hu...

Re: Chunky-legged hermit crab?
That comes with age! All younger hermits are kind of spindly, and as they grow their limbs thicken. Purple pinchers, the most common kind to find and the easiest to care do, will end up with massive limbs when they are fully grown. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk will they eventually get those...

I have no idea why, but every time (without fail) I say "boop" when a crab sticks his butt in a new shell. I just do.

Chunky-legged hermit crab?
What species of hermit crabs have those big chunky legs and eyes? They are so adorable! they look like the stereotypical pudgy kid from movies like The Sandlot I would love to have one of these little cherubs some day but I don't know any of the species!

I'm sorry for your loss. I have had trouble with molting as well. Let me know when the images are working.
