Re: Is my crab dying?
Thank you, the trick is just making sure to have a bowl that the pitch of the walls is steep enough to stop anyone from leaving. If i put a 1 gallon tank inside the full setup for holding, and start catching crabs tonight or tomorrow night, would that cause excess emotional trauma and fighting? That...

Re: Is my crab dying?
I can potentially keep the temp right, but i don't have a closed tank that i can keep the humidity up. How big does the bowl have to be? I have cereal bowls that are 6 inches across and 2 inches deep or so with a45 degree incline, or bowls that are almost vertical on the side, among other sizes

It's 15 minutes away and I'm actually moving in with someone. Do i try a...

Re: What are your crabs up to?
I got some strawberries today, and after an interesting introduction, everything seems to be going well. One is super shy, though. Another is actually kinda friendly Strawberries are the cutest but how did ypu get your hands on them? I've only ever seen PP's in pet stores even E's are hard to find ...

Is my crab dying?
I have a straw that's being rather sluggish it seems. Any time i check out the tat, she's in the salt water dish. I took her out of the water to change it, and she barely moved more than turning a bit. This morning i put her right next to the coconut oil so she can eat, but she just sat there. I hav...

*I'm a dude, but no worries since it's not in the sidebar When i play on weekdays it would be somewhere between 5pm and 10pm. Weekends are unpredictable other than after 12 usually. I plan to have the Hermit Crab Ballet organized and performance ready by November. They shall be performing a daring i...

How sensitive are crabs to noise?
Specifically, a piano. I'm moving soon, and already am planning out my room. The biggest trick is that one wall has 2 vents and 4 of my crabs are straws, so i can't put them on that wall. Moving counter clockwise, it's a wall up against the exterior. Moving to the next wall is where the crabs may go...

Sexing Straws
Does anyone have a good picture of the gonopores on straws? I tried looking at one that was climbing that i could see the underside, but from what i saw, the base of the third legs is smaller than on pps, so i couldn't really tell their sexes

Re: Shell fight or just swapping shells?
That's what perplexes me: all the available shells are various kinds of turbo, other than the magpies two are wearing and the unknown kind the small came in Edit: it appears Courage (new guy) went shell shopping and found something. Bro moved into his shell, but may be moving back. At least now i ca...

Re: Shell fight or just swapping shells?
I have essentially a 40 gallon tank as it's a regular 20 with a 20 terrarium topper. There's 1 small pp, 3 medium pps, 3 medium straws, and a medium-large straw. There are at least 15 shells the size of the larger ones, which make it that, even though the tank is based on two 20 longs, little sub sh...

Shell fight or just swapping shells?
How often do crabs switch shells with each other in this manner? Crab A goes to crab B. B leaves the Shell. A goes into B's former shell. B goes in A's shell. I'm asking because this morning i saw either a shell fight or something like that happening. I got several straws yesterday, and one is espec...
