Awesome, this is the quality content I signed up for. I love these tips, you can only get them from a community of experienced crabbers. You don't find that on an average Google search.

Thanks! He didn't have a second level when I got him, and I had just learned how to make a popsicle stick bridge, so the timing worked out well.

Update: It looks like today is molt day! He's burying himself now. So there's probably not gonna be much to say about him until he's done. I'm super excited though. He went for a butload of fresh and saltwater and ate like a monster, and now he's going under. Wish him luck! 🦀❤️ Ahhh, good luck litt...

Good point. He does get a pretty steady supply of nuts now (he especially loves walnuts). Maybe I'll give him time to settle in and introduce a similarly sized friend in the future.

By mixing the substrate with dfw or dsw to sandcastle consistancy. When you squeeze it, it holds its shape. But if it drips water it's too wet so just add more substrate.

Yes, and whether they can ever be trusted to be among friends again. My crab has also shown cannibalistic behavior in the past (before he was my crab). So I would be curious to hear more thoughts or similar experiences.

I took great care in setting up his tank to meet all of the guidelines, EXCEPT him having a buddy. I just don't want him to be lonely or depressed.

Another good idea is to get crabs larger than he is, so they can easily defend themselves against Maui. Larger crabs need bigger tanks, which also make it hard. How big is Maui?
