Missing Crab

Post by shartistic1 » Thu Jun 06, 2019 5:41 pm

Hello everyone! Just wanted to update on my two crabbies. So it's been three months and Stardust is thriving. (I adopted them from someone who had them in pretty bad conditions. They had no moisture whatsoever and were the only surviving two out of ten.) She survived her first molt and even changed into a bigger shell. I'm so proud of her! As far as Lyra goes, she has been MIA since the end of March. I saw her for awhile hiding out at the back of the tank, but I haven't seen her recently at all. I assumed she went to molt but it's been so long, I'm not sure she's still alive in there. There has never been a fishy smell at all. Did Stardust eat her even though she is the smaller one? I'd love to hear what you think about where Lyra might be. Thanks!

It's only been about 2 months. I've heard we shouldn't worry until it's been 4, 6 or even 8 months.

I agree - I wouldn't worry. As long as you have enough proper substrate, it is unlikely that one crab would come across another under the sub. You could do major damage by digging up a crab.
