Is it better to bath the hermit crabs in fresh or salt water?

Re: Bath time
Many people decide not to bath their crabs at all... As long as you have pools inside your tank where they can fully submerge there is no reason to bath them.... All bathing causes is extra stress. Hermit crabs also carry water inside there shells--- meaning that if you bath them, you could mess up the balance of water in their shells.

As for mites: I use regular strength salt water.
Surface molting: whenever a hermit crabs pull a surface molt on me, I will give them a dip in freshwater before returning them to the main tank.

Re: Bath time
As @AutumnHermie said, forced bathing causes stress to the crabs. The only two times a crab needs to get a quick dunk in dechlorinated FW is when he is newly adopted and is ready to be introduced to the other crabs and when he is returning to the crabitat after being ISOd for molting issues or illness. This is to ensure that the crab doesn't carry any "different" smell with him when he comes into the main tank.
