Hematite/dark grey eyes on eyestalk that are dark in color and rectangular in shape. The two middle, lower aentennae are bright red and with the darker violascens tend to be a darker red. Their legs, pincers and body come in a variety of colors, such as tan, orange, red, blue and purple. On their big pincer there is a light colored stripe. There are no stitch marks on a violascens big pincer.
No smaller than a 10 gallon glass tank, is preferable. A glass or plexiglass lid is also required to hold proper tank temperature and humidity.
