Yes @KayedeeLove<3 they eat the protein like crazy!! I'm putting new food in every 2 days.
It was totally crazy & unexpected. My poor Peanut.
Now I'm just trying to decide my next move....

Ok guys!! Weird turn of events!! I just got home from my vacation & sure enough I have a freshly molted crab in a new white turbo. Thinking its Capt. Jack I start digging for his shell that I was presuming he left underground. Well, I found the shell (his old Babylon shell)....WITH A CRAB INSIDE IT!!
I have no idea what to think now...I think this one is alive because I hear tiny scratching sounds inside the shell & there is no "death" smell. The crab claw inside the shell is dark purple in color, not pale.
Is it possible that Jack has still been underground in his old shell from his molt (he's been buried for many many weeks now)?? And is it possible that what my mom found was a surface molted Peanut sitting in the shell shop eating his exo??? I didn't even think to ask my mom if what she found was see through or not.
The snacking crab was sitting in the shell shop when she found it the other morning. Do they or can they surface molt in their shell shop?? And what of the crab I found underground??
The freshly molted crab is gaining color & slightly bigger in size.
The crab I found buried I set off in a corner by itself to check back if it comes out of it's shell. I could be mistaken of hearing scratching inside the shell, but after several weeks I would have thought I'd smell death if Jack had just simply died underground.
I don't know what to think now!! @KayedeeLove<3 @Kermie16 @Rawrgeous. @soilentgringa

Could it be possible Jack was just simply buried for a little after his molt? It has to be Jack because it's the shell he was wearing when he went under. But what about the freshly molted crab....a strangely surface molted Peanut?

I'm wondering if perhaps he did need to do a quick back to back molt after Jack's original attack before Jack went under. Maybe Peanut had an injury to take care of quickly over night??

But can a crab surface molt over night?
Or did Peanut switch to the Babylon shell & bury himself? Then it could have been Jack eating his exo in the shell shop?? This whole thing ain't making sense....lol

It sounds like a surface molt, if i were u... Id ask my mom exactly what she saw? What did it look like was it heavy like a crab or light? Etc. Watch for aggression! Also, if she threw the exo away, plenty of supplements!

She said there wasn't much left, maybe a leg & the bigger claw.
Both crabs did fine over night, and it seems the freshly molted crab gained some more color overnight & decided to change shells!
I made sure last night about what food & supplements were in the tank.

Yes I think so!!! He apparently did a quick surface molt & that's what my mom stumbled upon!!

They did behave well overnight. And Peanut's color is getting better.

I have no clue what happened!! Idk if he felt nervous with Jack still being underground or what...
But so glad he's healthy & alive. And yes he got a good scolding!!
