Zoo Med Terrarium Moss - Is it Safe?

Post by cowpowah » Mon Aug 07, 2017 8:34 am

Was looking for ExoTerra Forest Plume Moss, but instead I found this stuff.

Not quite sure what kind of moss it is. Little information on the packaging/on the Zoo Med website. When I opened it, there were a bunch of tiny sticks and wood chips scattered throughout the moss. Anyone used this/know if it's safe? Thanks.

It's safe. It's sphagnum moss. There were a bit of sticks and wood chips in mine too, I just wash the sticks and wood chips out in a bowl of dechlorinated freshwater, wring out the moss, and stick it in the crabitat. My crabs love to munch on it.

Zoo Med also sells the same moss that's dyed green. Don't recommend that one because of the dye.
