Live sand

Is there a safe way to use Ocean Direct Live Sand in a hermit crab tank without being cycled? I don't think there is. I'm concerned about an ammonia smell once I open the bags since I don't have a cycling fish tank.

You'd need to wash it very well in tap water (put some sand in a bucket, fill it with water, swish the sane around with your hand, pour off the excess water, and repeat several times) and then either mix it into dry sand or cocofiber, or allow it to dry out for a while.

Okay, thank you, Wodesorel. I can do that. Would a plastic mixing bowl work?
