Collecting Leaves?

Post by piratetoothgir » Sun Jun 10, 2018 4:46 pm

Is it possible to collect living leaves from an area which uses pesticides on the trees, and then dry out the leaves? If so, I would collect green leaves, dry them for a while, then bake them before putting them inside, does that work?

Well, it really stinks living somewhere that treats with fertilizer, and pesticides, it really does.
I found my source of dried leaves, which is from my grandmother, she will send me a bunch of dried oak, and other types of leaves in the fall. Missouri seems to have a big fall season.

Organic foods are really expensive in my area too, so I have to really wash what isn’t organic before I chop it up and serve it to the hermits.

No. They would still be contaminated.

If they aren't full of pesticides, she could potentially send you green leaves, then you could try dehydrating them. I don't think it matters whether they are green or not for use with crabs or isopods. :) Just an idea.

She's a bit unable to reach up to the tall trees to prune leaves off, her back has problems.
It'll be easier for her to rake them from the ground, and then mail them to me.

Mine prefer the green leaves dried out over the brown- not sure why.

Crabs are weird!!
