New species help?
Are there any crab species that don’t require a species buddy? I might want to get another crab, (that is not not a PP) to make things more interesting. The substrate in the 20 gallon high tank is 5-61/2 inches deep. Please do not be mean or discouraging in this topic.
Thank you!

I have had pets in the past, but my family can’t have any furry or feathered ones due to allergies. I usually try my best to help and currently trying to set up a crabitat. I also try to treat others with Love!❤️

Re: New species help?
The only one I can think of are B. latro (aka. The coconut crab). While some crabs aren't exactly friendly with eachother and outwardly show any affection for a species buddy, I do feel its important to have a buddy or two in there with them. In the wild, they often move around in colonies for protection and for shells (basically a shell chain swapping event!) that I think in captivity, is important to replicate some aspects of the wild.

I was looking at the species’ names on this website, and I couldn’t find what you said. At first I thought you said a Blueberry because you meantioned B. If latro is the crab I do not know what it is lolaussieJJDude wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2019 9:16 amThe only one I can think of are B. latro (aka. The coconut crab). And, sadly, not available in the commercial pet trade. Definitely for the best, though!aussieJJDude wrote:birgus latro... a extremely close cousin of our hermit crabs!
