I just got 4 more crabs from someone looking to rehome. I've only seen 3 of the crabs (not sure if the 4th doesn't exist or is burried) Today when I was looking at their tank I saw a weird shaped object. Thinking it was a piece of food I picked it up(making sure the tank stays clean and mold free) however it was a piece of the crabs large pincher. The crabs that are surfaced both have their pincher. Should I be worried about the other 2 that I haven't seen recently? I plan on moving the surfaced crabs into my tank after their incubation period. (Ive has them for a little over a week) Their tank as been maintained with humidify and temp but the pervious owner used calcium sand. I dont have another tank to move them into until I know they're healthy. I will replace and use the tank for the hermits one they all come up. Should I be worried that the crabs dont get along? Please answer any questions you can. I will provide any more info I can.
Thanks Theresa<3

Re: New Crab Problems. Please Help
Sometimes when crabs molt, they don't eat their big pincher. I wouldn't be concerned.
Edit: If the previous owner used calcium sand, I would definitely not use that, and get rid of that. Also, when switching the new crabs to your tank, I personally recommend dipping the crabs into the fw pool of your tank. Also, since the tank has been moved, it is imperative to carefully dig because the molting cave could have collapsed in the transport.

Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

I will be moving them into my tank hopefully pretty soon. I will end up using the tank for hermit crabs but I obviously need a sub change and I'm not sure when ill have the time for that and when all the crabs will be surfaced.
