We’ve only had our hermit crabs for about 10 days, so I don’t have a handle yet on what is or isn’t normal for these particular crabs, but if they sleep with their legs and head out of the shell, is that bad? Our one little guy does this a lot during the day and today he was kind of hanging down (but his eye stalks were up). I didn’t get a picture because I was a little concerned and opened the lid. When I opened it he reacted right away and pulled in, so I’m wondering if his shell was just at an odd angle maybe.
He did have a particularly active night last night digging around under the moss pit then climbing up the plants, so maybe he was just really tired?

Re: Sleeping?
It's so easy to become worried and obsess over every thing the crabs do when you first get them. You will be able to determine after some time what is normal and what isn't. My hermits sleep with their legs out all of the time.
I know it's easier said than done, but try to relax about them.

Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

Thank you!
I kinda figured there’s no one size fits all answer for certain crab behaviors, but figured I’d check to be sure!
I’ve really enjoyed watching them, especially when they change shells.
