Can purple claw hermies get that big?

Yup!

Purple clawed crabs, or PPs, Purple Pinchers, or caribbean crabs can easily get that big, and most of the pictures on here are of PPs

wodesorel's massive three in the beginning of the thread are all PPs, as well as Godzilla, Big Oliver, The Almighty George, and Bach, to name a few I can remember

My largest crab molted and changed shells, so here's an update

He's in a shell with a one inch opening. He wont cooperate for the sizing chart (none of my crabs will :roll: ) so I'm not sure what size he's considered.

I just bought a indo... its a JUMBO! A true jumbo, it ate HALF a large baby carrot today!

I realize Indos do get much larger than other species.

Its just that some "jumbos" are really larges.... but they look like jumbos.

I would agree with that. There's skinny-legged jumbos who are larger than the sizing circle and are technically jumbos (like my Goji) but when you put them next to the thick-legged tanks (like my Dark One) that are "true" jumbos they look like babies! I do the same thing when I talk about them, Goji is Jumbo and The Dark One is a True-Jumbo.

So it's like when I say Mallorn is a jumbo and Hawk was an "almost jumbo". Gotcha.
