Two New Crabs Tomorrow

Post by Teedeums » Fri Nov 28, 2014 10:41 pm

Well, I have room in my tank for two more crabs, and I have finally convinced my dad to take me to petco tomorrow to get them. I really wish I could have adopted crabs, I looked everywhere, but they were either to far (it is cold here so no shipping), or had already found homes. I guess it is still rescuing a crab technically by getting it from a store, but not really, since you are supporting a terrible industry. I am just going to tape care sheets to every animal tank I can there to try and get them to take better care of the animals. I was actually planning on ordering two violas from LHC, but then it got cold so there went that plan. So this is sort of going to be about the two new crabs (duh). I will update this tomorrow either when I get back to the pet store of while I am at it.
So give a cheer for hermit crabs! I can't wait to go and save (sort of, but still encouraging them to get more crabs and abuse them because you bought one) them tomorrow. I finally got tapatalk working, so I will be able to post pics. :cat:.

Yay! Congrats! I make a point to let stores like that know I won't buy painted shelled crabs, so they should only get natural shelled crabs. Have fun picking on new hermies! I can't wait for pics!

So here they are! Sadly they had only painted shell crabs. I got a large (or jumbo?) crab who looked really active. I think he is either a PP or a viola (probably a PP, maybe I'm just seeing things). The other one was a pity purchase, he was limp but alive hiding in the corner. As soon as I brought him home he became really active and visited the food dish with the other guy, I think they are best friends 4 life. While I was gone, the two crabs currently up (there is one molting) went down. So these guys are currently the only ones in the tank. Right now they are sharing a piece of organic half cooked pasta. I have never gave pasta to the crabs before, but I found some all natural organic pasta in the cupboard, and I cooked a little for the crabs. I guess I will make them more if they like it this much. The two of them got my mom (a "fluffy pet only" type of person), interested in hermit crabs. She said it was fascinating how they ate together and how dedicated they seemed to each other. Ok, I will stop blabbering now and just post the pics :D!

EDIT: It won't let me post pics (again :(), so I am going to try and see what is going on

Aww! I hope you can get pics figured out! And how nice that you have a crabby bromance/ romance. I'm so glad they seem so happy! I'm sure they are happy to be in good stable conditions.

Definitely! :) I am going to try and gender them when they are more settled in. I still haven't gotten the pictures working, but I will try to get them up by tomorrow.
