Substrate - Where to buy?
Substrate - Where to buy?
In the past, I've used play sand from Lowe's. I'm looking for something that won't be as hard to maintain. Where can I buy a decent substrate?

I use Quikrete Play Sand from Lowe's but I mix in a little cocofiber too. What is the trouble you're having with it?

That's what I have used. I'm having a hard time keeping it moist.

It may help to mix in a good amount of cocofiber. Some crabbers use straight cocofiber with no problem. May work for you too if you live in a dryer area but in my experience it's best mixed with play sand.

Any substrate is going to dry out over time and will need regular maintenance to keep it moist. The air in your home is much dryer than the humidity of the tank, so it sucks the moisture of the crabitat. Cocofiber can help even out the humidity levels for a longer period of time and help buffer against dry substrate to a point, but no matter what you'll have to keep adding in the water that's being lost to evaporation.
